Los Angeles Immersion Trip
June 10-16, 2018
Following in the footsteps of Father Greg Boyle, student participants in the Los Angeles service/immersion trip will immerse themselves in the community life of East Los Angeles for the week. As part of their experience, students will tour Homeboy Industries and meet employees who run the Homeboy Bakery, the Homegirl Café, and the Homeboy printmakers, as well as hear personal testimonies of those given a second chance at life, thanks to Homeboy. During the week, we will also feed and serve the homeless, the hungry, and the poor at the St. Francis Center, and engage in thoughtful dialogue with laypeople and clergy members who minister to the poor and homeless in a variety of ministries. Given the intensity of the week, student participants will also enjoy a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities each evening, yet will also be afforded a full complement of reflection experiences to process all that they experience over their week in LA.
