Gifts of appreciated securities are an excellent way to make a gift to Prep. Donors receive a tax deduction for the full value of the stock on the day it is transferred to Prep, and they avoid taxes on capital gains.

To make a gift of stock to Georgetown Prep, please complete a wire transfer to Georgetown Prep's account with Morgan Stanley and provide the following information for proper crediting:

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) are very effective charitable giving vehicles whereby donors set aside money to be granted to charitable organizations. You can support Georgetown Prep through a DAF grant. When processing a DAF grant through a charitable giving account, search for Georgetown Prep by tax ID number (52-0591606). 

To make a gift, please include:

1. The donor name
2. The allocation of the gift i.e. The PREP Fund 
3. A memo that notes your gift is for the benefit of Georgetown Preparatory School

If you are 70 ½ years and older you may donate up to $100,000 from your individual retirement accounts (IRAs) and Roth IRAs to Georgetown Prep as a charitable nonprofit without having to treat the withdrawals as taxable income. The giving incentive is of particular value to individuals who do not claim itemized deductions on their tax return because the funds are sent directly to nonprofits from IRA accounts and are never counted as income.
