President's Councilors Dinner 2022 Insignis Medal Honorees

Georgetown Prep hosted the 2022 President's Councilors Dinner last Thursday evening at Columbia Country Club, the School's annual celebration of our generous benefactors. For your support of and generosity to Prep, the School is incredibly grateful, and on behalf of all of us who work each day to advance Prep as a leading Jesuit educational institution, we thank you.

Additionally, on this evening, the president confers the Insignis Medal and the John Edward Joyce Award. This year Rev. James Van Dyke, S.J. awarded the Insignis Medals to Mr. Stephen Saxon and Monsignor John Enzler. Steve Saxon, Georgetown Prep Class of 1969 and a principal of The Groom Law Group, has provided decades of tireless service to Prep in a myriad of leadership roles; and he has also generously served the Catholic community in the D.C. area. Steve has two Prep alumni sons, Matt '01 and Brendan '06. Monsignor John Enzler, affectionately known as Father John, has been a longtime friend of Georgetown Prep and has impacted the lives of so many families in our community over the years. He is currently serving his last year, after 11 years as the President and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, an agency which annually helps more than 120,000 people in the Washington-metropolitan region.

The 2022 Joyce Award recipient is Georgetown Prep's English Department Chair, Mr. Thomas Venker. Tom joined the Prep community in 2012 and has been teaching English for 17 years. As Headmaster John Glennon Jr. reflected, "Everything Tom has done at Prep -- and he's done almost everything -- has been approached with a professional excellence that is exemplary: teacher, coach, dorm parent, department chair, curricular leader, role model for his students, mentor to his peers. His work has garnered the respect of the entire community."
