The PREP Fund is our most important philanthropic effort, enabling us to meet the full cost of a Prep education beyond what tuition revenues produce. Gifts to The PREP Fund bridge that gap.
The PREP Fund allows for a more engaging and rigorous curriculum, robust academic and counseling support, stellar faculty recruitment and development, and a significant financial aid program.
Restricted gifts are designated by the donors for specific purposes to be used for the 2022–23 fiscal year. Restricted categories include Vision Campaign pledge payments, external scholarships, and gifts that recognize a specific department of the school such as the International Department or athletics.
This Little Hoya Golf Classic was held at Blue Mash on October 14, 2022. We thank everyone who participated with a special note of thanks to the sponsors of this event. Proceeds for this annual golf tournament benefit the Father Aloysius C. Galvin Memorial Scholarship and the Gus Coupe Memorial Scholarship. Each scholarship fund received a donation from the total net proceeds of $6,110 from the October 2022 event in the amount of $3,055.
Georgetown Preparatory School’s largest annual community fundraiser, the Spring Gala, was held in the Hanley Fieldhouse on Saturday, May 6, 2023, with the theme, “This is Prep Country.” Through the generosity of sponsors, donors, car raffle purchasers, volunteers, staff and many others, the Gala netted $303,958 that directly supported the young men of Georgetown Prep, plus an additional $325,450 raised for The Washington Jesuit Academy Four Year Scholarship Fund via the Raise the Paddle effort during the live auction. The Gala chairs were Dave ’87 and Tina Burns P’17, ’19, ’23 and Justin ’92 and Nimi DuFour P’23. Their leadership, creativity and tireless efforts on behalf of the Gala made this year’s event a resounding success. Gala proceeds directly support Georgetown Prep’s academic and athletic endeavors, campus ministry, arts programs, financial aid and continued improvements to our incomparable campus.
Thank you to the corporations, businesses and organizations that supported Prep in the 2022-23 Fiscal Year
Today, Georgetown Prep has a world-class boarding facility, recommitting Prep to fulfilling its mission and distinguishing its unique position in the secondary education market. The Campus Center and Residence Hall is the most significant investment Prep has made in its global Jesuit residential program in over 100 years.
The following donors contributed to The Building Fund between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

Georgetown Prep has been leading an initiative for the naming of the Lecture Hall in the new Campus Center and Residence Hall to be named in memory of Steve Maczynski, our former head of our College Counseling Department. This is an ongoing solicitation for funds.
The following donors gave to The Steve Maczynski Fund between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
In the new “heart” of campus you will find the Scaturro Family Plaza situated between the George Learning Center, the William V. Bidwill ’49 Stadium at Historic Fegan-Galvin Field and the new Campus Center and Residence Hall. This patio is abuzz with activity during athletic events at the Stadium and is used for Prep community gatherings, including the annual Georgetown Prep Father’s Social.
Prep donors were given the rare opportunity to leave their mark on campus by engraving a brick to be installed in the Scaturro Family Plaza patio. Our community responded generously. Nearly 650 bricks were sold for a total raised of $459,000 for the Capital Campaign. With the help of Parent Campaign Co-Chairs Dave and Tina Burns and Michael and Elise Keegan, Prep far surpassed the set goal for the Engraved Bricks Campaign.
The following donors contributed to the brick campaign between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
The creation of a new stadium and athletics facilities was a fortunate outcome of the building project. The previously dedicated turf field, Fegan-Galvin Field, had to be moved to accommodate the placement of the new building, allowing for the School to properly outfit a stadium facility to serve athletic programing for the next century. Adjacent to the Campus Center & Residence Hall, this first-class stadium and field serve to enhance the overall athletic experience and build community among fans and visitors.
The following donors gave to The Stadium Fund from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

This game day Plaza is a special patio area outside the Campus Center & Residence Hall overlooking the field, to recognize and honor Georgetown Prep Director of Athletics and Head Varsity Football Dan Paro ’79 and his family’s unending commitment and sacrifices that they have made to benefit all of us in the Prep community. This Plaza will serve as a place for students, parents, alumni, and guests to gather to celebrate Prep brotherhood and community.
The following donors gave to The Paro Family Plaza fund between July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
The new lacrosse practice wall, measuring 60′ long and 15′ high, enhances the physical space of the turf field as well as the overall lacrosse program that Prep has to offer. The practice wall is named “The Giblin” in honor of Kevin Giblin, Head Coach of Georgetown Prep Varsity Lacrosse from 1988-2014. Coach Giblin was committed to his players at Prep and was a masterful teacher of the game. He has served as an educator in Catholic schools for over 30 years, an example of a “Man for Others.” We are grateful for his service.
The following donors contributed to The Giblin Lacrosse Wall from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
The Class of 1983 rallied as a group in honor of their classmate, Michael Bidwill ’83, to name the student section bleachers of The William V. Bidwill ’49 Stadium at historic Fegan-Galvin Field.
The following are donors from the Class of 1983 for the stadium student section who contributed between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
Over 230 years ago Georgetown Preparatory School was founded to nurture extraordinary young men to excel in academics, athletics, service to others, and spirituality. The aim then was to build a top-tier prep school as the foundation for college and beyond. Our founders and those that followed succeeded. Our challenge continues to ensure that Prep remains a world-class school. A substantial and active Endowment is the bedrock for achieving and sustaining this goal; it is how we advance our principal purpose of forming Men For Others. Income from these vital new sources will enhance all aspects of school life.
The following endowed funds were funded by the listed donors during the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
Georgetown Preparatory School established the Haas Society to recognize the generosity of all participants in the school’s planned giving programs. The Haas Society honors the late Frederick Haas, Class of 1921 as an example of stewardship, generosity, vision, and faith in our mission and our future. Participation in any of Georgetown Prep’s planned giving programs – bequests, life-income arrangements, and other deferred gifts – automatically qualifies you for membership in The Haas Society.
If you have already included Georgetown Prep in a bequest or other planned gift, please let us know. Your willingness to be listed as a member of The Haas Society encourages others to follow your example. We acknowledge and respect those who wish to remain anonymous, however, we urge you to let us know of your plans on a confidential basis.
