Through exploration of other countries, cultures, and communities, we encourage students to develop a deep understanding of humanity as a whole—because understanding breeds compassion, and compassion will make us strong, wise, and kind leaders.
Traveling the world takes courage–the ability to put aside fear and take the first steps to be brave.

Language Immersion Trips
Germany (Summer 2026)
Spain (Summer 2026)

Rising seniors spent two unforgettable weeks in Germany! They explored München, took day trips to Neuschwanstein, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Dachau, then headed to the Black Forest to stay at a Jesuit sister school, Kolleg St. Blasien.

8 students participated in our Spanish Language Immersion trip to Seville, Spain. The students spent a packed two weeks attending Spanish language classes, sharing meals with their host
families, and exploring the historical city of Sevilla.
The trip to Germany taught me a lot, not just about the culture, but also the history. We learned about Munich’s past, the significance of castles, and even how they manage their water systems. Staying an extra week for my service project really pushed me to use my German in real situations. It definitely made me a stronger German student.

Global Scholars
Global Scholars is a group of students who focus on global travel, discourse and academia. Students participate in seminars on a variety of interdisciplinary topics that culminate in a trip: a capstone experience and further cementing participants as academically, globally, and spiritually competent men. Global Scholars selects students for their compassion, academic excellence, and commitment to global citizenship.
During Spring Break 2024, participants embarked on a trip to France. The students visited some of France’s greatest monuments and museums including the Louvre, Les Invalides, and the iconic Notre Dame. They spent significant time exploring local shops, French culinary delights, the gorgeous architecture, the peaceful draw of the Seine River, and the unique arrondissements of the city. For the last weekend of the Global Scholars trip the Hoyas did homestays with students from Lycée François Magendie in Bordeaux, France. We were hosted by John Raskauskas ‘79 who is Head of Section - O.I.B./B.F.I. American Section.
During Spring Break of 2025, our Global Scholars explored the heart of Europe—Berlin, Brussels, Strasbourg, Heidelberg, and Frankfurt, on a educational journey curated by the German-American Institute Heidelberg (DAI). Through site visits, academic seminars, and cultural exchange, the students gained firsthand insight into the European Union’s evolution, economic development, sustainability efforts, and post-WWII history, while building connections with local students and institutions across the EU.

EU Trip, Spring Break 2025
I spent four days in Bordeaux, France with a host family that welcomed me with open arms into their lives. Cali introduced me to local cuisine, her friends from school, and the overall beauty of the city of Bordeaux. Living with a host family was a perfect way to end a historical trip for it brought upon a degree of humbleness to bear in mind another household and to be open to different social customs. I will never forget my host family or the love they showed me.
