At Georgetown Prep, global education is more than international travel—it's a way of life. Through our diverse campus community, intercultural programming, language immersion, global travel, academic initiatives, and international partnerships, students develop the knowledge, compassion, and confidence to lead in an interconnected world.
Rooted in our Jesuit mission, we challenge students to understand cultures beyond their own, embrace different perspectives, and become men who serve others across borders and boundaries.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
The world becomes the classroom through immersive experiences that bring language, history, and culture to life.
Language Immersion Programs
Students strengthen their language skills while living with host families, attending local classes, and/or experiencing daily life abroad.
Summer programs include:
- Buenos Aires, Argentina
- China
- Germany (Munich and St. Blasien)
- Seville, Spain
These experiences help students build confidence in speaking another language while forming lasting international friendships.
Students traveled to Shanghai and Beijing for an immersive educational experience. Through service, cultural exchange, and experiential learning, students developed a deeper understanding of China while building meaningful relationships with local communities.
Students participated in our Spanish Language Immersion trip to Seville, Spain. The students spent a packed two weeks attending Spanish language classes, sharing meals with their host families, and exploring the historical city of Sevilla.
Going to Sevilla with Prep to study for AP Spanish was amazing. Not only was I learning the rules of Spanish in the classroom, but I was living the culture every day. Whether it was talking with my host mom or walking through the Real Alcázar, I felt fully immersed with my Prep brothers in Spain, and I cannot recommend this program enough nor can I overstate how much fun I had.

International Exchange Programs
In 2019, the Georgetown Prep community began an exchange program with our brother Jesuit school - Colegio del Salvador (where a young Pope Francis taught) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the winter, Prep hosts students from this school on campus and then in the summer, Prep students travel to Argentina to experience their school and culture.

Global Scholars Program
Global Scholars is a group of students who focus on global travel, discourse and academia. Students participate in seminars on a variety of interdisciplinary topics that culminate in a trip: a capstone experience and further cementing participants as academically, globally, and spiritually competent men. Global Scholars selects students for their compassion, academic excellence, and commitment to global citizenship
In honor of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, Global Scholars attended Project Americana.
This unique 2026 Spring Break experience went to the Mighty 5 National Parks in Utah: Zion, Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef.
International Relations Club Cultural Trips

During Spring Break 2024, the International Relations Club went to see the Crown Jewels of Central Europe: Vienna, Prague, Krakow and Budapest. In this photo, the Hoyas enjoyed time in Vienna, Austria and the history, residence, and grounds of Schönbrunn Palace.

Intercultural Learning at Georgetown Prep

Students engage with classmates from across the United States and around the world through our boarding program, language clubs, cultural celebrations, guest speakers, and community events.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Global Leadership Opportunities
Students develop diplomacy, public speaking, negotiation, and leadership skills while addressing today's most pressing global challenges.
Model Organization of American States (MOAS) - The International Relations Club at Georgetown Preparatory School is one of the original participants of the first MOAS for high schoolers in 1982. The original conference was held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC. Georgetown Prep has participated every year since then.
Model Arab League (MAL) - Facilitated by the National Council on US Arab Relations, the International Relations Club has hosted the National High School Model Arab League at Georgetown Prep since 2022. Delegates from around the DMV area spend a weekend confronting vital global issues by employing their diplomacy skills to formulate well conceived resolutions on topics from immigration to environmental crises. Informational embassy trips are organized for the countries GP delegates represent.
The ODU Model United Nations Conference (ODUMUNC) is a three-day simulation for high schools, during Presidents' Day weekend. We take pride in presenting the most professional event of its kind anywhere. ODUMUNC elevates experiential learning to the highest level, giving participants hands-on insights into the politics of international affairs.
