Georgetown Prep Swimming & Diving
Georgetown Prep Swimming & Diving program is the winningest team in Prep’s athletic department, posting 23 consecutive championships in the Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) league. In addition, the storied program has an unbroken run dating back 20 years of sending athletes to the Olympic Trials, as well as producing more than 100+ National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) All-Americans in that same period. NISCA recognizes the Top 100 swimmers and divers in the nation, per event.
Since 1999, the team consistently has been in the top three at the annual Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim & Dive League (WMPSSDL) Championship, and the top five at the Super Bowl of area high school swimming & diving championships, Washington Metro Championships (Metros). GP won Metros in 2002, 2004-2010, 2014-15, 2019.
In the last 30 years, the team has had numerous Washington Post All Met Selections, and has seen several of its athletes named All Met Swimmer/Diver of the Year.
Prep is one of the few metropolitan Washington, DC high schools which has its own pool, a gorgeous facility with 11 lanes in both yards and meters, a fully automated timing system complete with a new scoreboard. All practices are held after school on campus, and the program has a good working relationship with year-round club coaches in schedule flexibility for club swimmers. The high school swim season runs from November to February.
