Georgetown Prep Cross Country

The program is designed to encourage every athlete regardless of their ability to run and enjoy it. Running is something that you can do for the rest of your life and all you need is a pair of good shoes.

This is one program where each runner can make the varsity team. At every meet there is a varsity race and a junior varsity race. The top 7 runners on the team will run the varsity race and the remaining runners run junior varsity. Each week as the runners improve, they may move up to run in the varsity race. Nobody sits the bench as every runner has the opportunity to race, advance, and improve. Our goals is to see each of our athletes improve each week.

We hold two invitationals at Prep each year. The first is the Woodward Cross-country Relays which coach Dunston started 50 years ago at now closed Woodward High School. The second one is the Georgetown Prep Classic started 49 years ago. There is a great tradition of running at Prep. We compete in the IAC with five other teams.

Coaches

The cross country team is coached by Greg Dunston who is in his 54rd year of coaching cross-country in Montgomery County with his last 17 years at Prep. He is supported by coaches Kate Makuc and Patrick Mullery '16. Kate has worked with Greg for the entire 17 years they have been at Prep.
