Georgetown Prep Basketball

The Prep Basketball Program seeks to run a Division 1 style program in concert with the school’s academic reputation. To that end, the program has seen 21 players go on to play in college since 2016. Colleges, past and present, include Georgetown, Marshall, Richmond, Providence, Columbia, Stanford, Mount St. Mary’s, James Madison, Old Dominion, Princeton, Maryland among others.

The most recent  IAC championship on the hardwood for the Little Hoyas came in 2018. Since then, the team battles to remain in the top half of the league standings every year. The 2023 team finished ranked in the top 30 by several media outlets including prep hoops, and DC News Now. The 2023 team was highlighted as an extremely young team with lots of promise. Akbar Waheed ’25 and Patrick McDonough '25 were both named All League at the conclusion of their sophomore year.

With majority of the roster returning the 2024 roster will be well prepared for the routinely strong schedule they will face. Each year our schedule is filled with the best programs in the DMV and opportunities to test ourselves vs national level competition throughout the season. Over the last three seasons, the schedule has included teams from Florida, Texas, Washington State, Arizona, New Orleans, Georgia, North Carolina, New York, and Tennessee.

Clinics and Camps

The Basketball Program hosts 1-2 clinics during the school year and a boys and girls summer camp for players starting in 5th grade. These camps feature Prep’s coaches, players and facilities and are a great opportunity to learn about the program and the school.
