Georgetown Prep Baseball

The Hoyas finished the 2025 season as IAC champions for the sixth straight year and earned the number 2 overall ranking from Washington Post All Met Sports and finished as a top team in Maryland across a number of rankings services. The team finished with a 22-6 record and went 17-1 after March to peak during the second half of the season. Andrew Duncan '25 (Duke) was IAC player of the year and was joined by Austin Weiss '25 (Maryland), Will Twomey '25 (Michigan), rising senior Caleb Kearns and rising junior Ben Sclafani in being honored as All Conference players. Duncan and Sclafani were awarded first team All Met status by the Washington Post, and Weiss was named to the second team. Patrick Colbert, an all conference player as a junior, is off to anchor the outfield at Penn and distinguished himself as a top defender in the area, with no errors and game saving assists throughout his career. We wish all of our seniors the best in college and are excited to welcome our Class of 2029 players to the program!

The 2024 Georgetown Prep baseball season was capped off with a number one finish in The Washington Post All Met Sports rankings- recognition for the impressive team effort all spring. Aiden Dubetsky ‘24 was honored as the All-Met Player of the Year for his dominant performances on the mound, in the field and at the plate. Aiden was also IAC player of the year for the second straight year.

Three other players were named to the All-Met team in 2024 (4 total is more than any other school in 2024): Andrew Duncan ‘25 was named to the Second team and Ray Huke ‘24 and Austin Weiss ‘25 were Honorable Mentions. For the IAC all conference team, five additional players were named beyond Aiden: Sam Weinstein ‘24, Patrick Colbert ‘25, Andrew Duncan, Austin Weiss and Ray Huke. Andrew Duncan, Austin Weiss and Aiden Dubetsky were also honored by Prep Baseball Report on their all state team for Maryland.

The Prep Baseball Program seeks to run a Division 1 style program in concert with the school’s academic reputation. To that end, the program has seen 61 players go on to play in college since 2011 and has 12 current players committed or signed to play in college. According to Baseball Cube, Prep is top 10 in the country for players on current Division 1 rosters. Colleges, past and present, include UVA, Notre Dame, Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Maryland, George Mason, Columbia and George Washington. The schedule is routinely filled with the other best programs in the DMV and Baltimore and plays a national schedule against teams from Massachusetts to New Jersey to Florida. The program has seen multiple number one and top three rankings by The Washington Post and Prep Baseball Report for both private school programs and all programs in Maryland.

The Hoyas have 12 regular season IAC championships (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024, 2025) and 9 IAC tournament championships since 2011 (2012, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025). The 2019 varsity team went 31-5 and was ranked number three in The Washington Post. The 2021 team was undefeated, with a record of 14-0, and the 2022 season ended with Prep's third consecutive IAC Championship and a ranking as high as #2 in the state of Maryland and top 5 in The Washington Post.

The 2023 team was labeled an emerging dynasty by The Washington Post. This 2023 team finished with a record of 25-7, losing just one game after the IMG spring break tournament and winning 15 out of 16 to claim the 4th straight IAC championship. The team finished ranked 3rd in The Washington Post rankings and received number one rankings in Maryland by Prep Baseball Report and Xposure. This was the second straight year that GP had a first team All-Met player in The Washington Post as both pitcher and position player, and the second straight year the program had the IAC Player of the Year.

The 2024 team culminated a vision that started in winter workouts with specific goals and a hardworking and devoted preseason like none other. The team went 13-0 in conference regular season and playoff games and threw two no hitters- Ray Huke against Landon and Aiden Dubetsky against Landon in the championship clinching game. The team scored marquee victories over Archbishop Spalding, Good Counsel and Gonzaga. Seniors- many of them three year starters- led this team to such heights. Aiden Dubetsky, Ray Huke and Austin Weiss were dominant on the mound. Sam Weinstein was stalwart behind the plate and had a terrific all around season, leading a consistent defense. The infield play of Ryan Maxey ‘24, CJ Chatterton ‘24, Patrick Shannon ‘24 and Will Twomey ‘25 was steady. The outfield was similarly paced by Andrew Duncan, Patrick Colbert, Austin Weiss and, just in time for the playoffs, Jaxson Wood. Offensively, CJ Chatteron and Patrick Colber set the tone at the top of the order by getting on base and Andrew Duncan (7 HRs) and Aiden Dubetsky provided the pop in the middle of the order. Will Twomey and Austin Weiss also had impressive RBI numbers and offensive campaigns. The team says farewell for now to seven seniors headed off the play in college: Maxey (George Mason), Chatterton (George Mason), Jaden Ovalles (St. Joseph’s), Sam Weinstein (Appalachian St), Aiden Dubetsky (Amherst), Jaxson Wood (Hood) and Ray Huke (Columbia). Five current players are committed to a college program: Duncan (Duke), Will Twomey (Pitt), Weiss (Maryland), Colbert (Richmond) and Arjun Bhaskar (NYU).

The junior varsity team also swept the regular season and tournament titles in the IAC in 2024. The JV program has enjoyed extensive success as well; players that win titles at the JV level are the groundwork of the program’s achievements year over year. In the past 13 seasons, the JV team has won both the IAC regular season and tournament championship 12 times.

Chandler Redmond

Prep has two active players in the major and minor leagues: Matt Mervis was called up to the Chicago Cubs in May 2023, and Chandler Redmond is in Double A for the Cardinals. Mervis was named Minor League Player of the Year for the Cubs for the 2022 season and led all of Minor League baseball in RBIs. Redmond recently had his bat sent to the Hall of Fame after hitting for a Home Run Cycle (one of each kind of home run in a single game) in the 2022 season, just the second time this has occurred on record in a professional game.
