During my time at Georgetown Prep, I have received many incredible opportunities, but none are more valuable to me compared to our incredible music program. This program has built a strong brotherhood rooted in patience and teamwork, where every instrument and voice plays a vital role in our shared success. Serving in this program has been a genuine honor because creating music together has taught me what it truly means to be a man for others.

Chamber Orchestra
Jazz Band
The Music Department offers several courses and the opportunity to be part of a performing group. Three groups are open to freshmen: the Freshmen Instrumental Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Prep Singers. Our advanced choir, known as A Cupola Hoyas, is our oldest performing group and is open to sophomores through seniors. The Chamber Orchestra is open to all students. It includes predominantly string instruments with a few wind, brass, keyboard and percussion instruments. The Jazz Band is an advanced ensemble which includes all instruments except strings.
Students have two formal concerts - one during the Christmas Season and one in the Spring. Students have also participated in off-campus performances in Bethesda and in Washington D.C. In addition, students participate in school masses, musicals, and service projects off campus.

Recording Studio
The Recording Studio, located on the ground floor of the George Center, welcomes both budding and seasoned musicians at Georgetown Prep.
It offers an alternative space for students to express their creativity and learn new skills used in the professional music industry. Students have the opportunity to write, record and produce their own songs, and collaborate with their peers and faculty members.
In addition to being open for extracurricular sessions, the recording studio hosts the Audio Engineering and Instrumental Ensemble classes, as well as collaborating with other classes and programs across campus when professional audio would help enhance their work.
The studio includes Pro Tools recording software, a dedicated vocal booth, an on-staff sound engineer, and a variety of professional-quality instruments and microphones.
