Theater

At Georgetown Prep we encourage our students to express their creativity and critical thinking, whether it's in a painting class, playing in the Jazz Ensemble or performing on the stage. In keeping with our Jesuit mission of educating the whole person, we foster a lifelong love of learning through a love of the arts.

The arts is a place to explore ideas and self, to make mistakes and learn from them, a place to develop the habits of thinking. Learning in and through the arts should be a place where students ask questions, where they work independently and as a team, a place where problems are solved through exploration. Students should be engaged in problems that are relevant; personally and globally. The arts allow students to create and innovate, stretch and explore, and engage in meaningful discourse. The arts support multiple modes of thinking and diverse needs of students.

In The Washingtonian’s 2025 article, The Best DC-Area Private High Schools to Enroll Your Child In, highlighted that Georgetown Prep has a distinctive niche for music and theater.
