AP Computer Science
Implementing the curriculum specified by AP Central, the course is taught centering on the language JAVA and emphasizes object-oriented programming methodology with a concentration on problem solving and algorithm development; it is meant to be the equivalent of a first-semester college-level course in computer science. Upon successful completion, students should be able to read and understand a program description and then design and develop it to the specifications. It also includes the study of data structures, design, and abstraction. Coding of programs and methods is a fundamental part of the methodology. (1 credit) Prerequisites: Precalculus or higher with an 85% or higher grade recommended.
