Tim Hughes '90, Senior Vice President, Global Business and Government Affairs, for Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), was the keynote speaker at the Georgetown Prep Business Network's (GPBN) breakfast on Friday, September 29.
SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft intended to increase the reliability and reduce the cost of access to space. The company has had a number of historic "firsts" over the past few years, including the reuse of previously flown rockets after successfully placing payloads into orbit. Next year, SpaceX will carry U.S. astronauts to the International Space Station on its Dragon capsule and Falcon 9 launch vehicle. At SpaceX, Tim is responsible for the company's policy, regulatory, and global business efforts.
Tim spoke about SpaceX's evolution and current strategy with space exploration. He also spoke about his role at SpaceX.
Over 100 Prep alumni from five decades attended the first Georgetown Prep Business Network event of the 2017-18 academic year.
The Georgetown Prep Business Network's goal is to create a networking environment for alumni to nurture their professional growth while fostering a continuing engagement with the Prep community. Numerous events are held throughout the year.
