The Colonna Family Chair for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

Paul Colonna '86 and his family have graciously endowed a family Chair for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at Georgetown Prep.

This appointment of three years is presented to a Georgetown Prep faculty member who proposes the development of a course or program that will significantly enrich Prep's STEM offerings. The Chair comes with a faculty professional development per annum grant constituting funds for education and materials appertaining to the course or program under development, and a modest stipend, totaling up to $13,500 per year.

In order to qualify for the Chair, a faculty member shall present a concrete proposal indicating the nature of the course or program, expected needs for the development of the same, and the contribution he or she expects the course or program to the growth of the study of sciences and mathematics at Prep and to the education of our students.

The Chair will offer an annual report to the President and the Headmaster regarding the progress of his or her project. It is expected that the development of the course or program will be substantially completed during the holder's three year term.

At the end of two years, the application process will reopen to the faculty in general. A current Chair holder will be allowed to present a new proposal or a substantive enhancement of his or her current project.

Proposals will be considered by a jury selected by the Headmaster. The Chair will be offered by the President.
