Coach Greg Dunston Celebrates 50th Year with Woodward Relays

On April 13, 2024, through the care and diligence of Coach Greg Dunston, Georgetown Prep will host the 50th Woodward Relays. In his storied career, Greg has led teams at three different schools to state, conference, or metro championships in four different sports.

Golf Team Spring Break Travels

The Georgetown Prep golf team traversed the East Coast with the goal of camaraderie, attitude, and fun — CAF was the acronym they strived to accomplish. In Stuart, FL the team played at Mariner Sands Country Club. They had time with alumnus and professional golfer Denny McCarthy '11. He spoke about “getting better every day” and shared the importance of deep breathing exercises.

The Value of a Jesuit Education

As a Jesuit priest I have spent almost 30 years in secondary education and over 20 of those leading schools. Having applauded (even a little tearfully!) literally thousands of seniors as they walked across varied stages with diplomas in hand, arriving at Georgetown Prep last Fall reminds me again that every school adds something unique to the world of Jesuit education. A mix of nationalities and perspectives here rivals those of Ignatius and the first Jesuits at the University of Paris.

MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIADS

Congratulations to Leo Liu ’25 and Roger Kang ’25, both who have qualified for the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO)!! This is an outstanding achievement in mathematics for a high school student. Leo and Roger are not the first Prep students to qualify for the USA Math Olympiad, but they are the first to who will participate.

Welcome Fr. Joseph M. O'Keefe, S.J. for a Campus Visit

Today, the Georgetown Prep community welcomed Fr. Joseph M. O'Keefe, S.J., the Provincial of the Eastern Province of the Society of Jesus, for his first visit to Prep's campus. He presided at the morning all-school Mass, followed by visits to several classes including Mr. Julius Tangwe's Theology class along with AP U.S. History, AP Statistics, and AP Spanish Language and Culture.
