The Georgetown Prep varsity indoor track and field team won the Montgomery County Private Schools Championship on February 5.
Sam Wallace '21 won the 55-meter race with a time of 6.5 seconds. His Prep teammates, Isaiah West '22 and Nick Aiello '21 finished in second and third place, respectively. Wallace also won the 300-meter race with a time of 37.5 seconds. Ronald Benicio '22 placed second in the 300-meter race.
Prep swept the 500-meter race. Josh Brown'20 ran the 500m in 1:16.2 to win the race. Alejandro Rojas '22 placed second and came in second by two-tenths of a second. Nathaniel Atayi '22 came in third. Atayi also won the 800-meter with a time of 2:08. Evan Deobald '21and Michael Crisp '23 placed second and third, respectively.
Joe Raza '22 won the1600-meter race with a time of 4:49.9, and won the 3200-meter race with a time of 10:59.7. Matthew Strong '21 came in second right behind Raza in the 1600-meter, with a time of 4:51.8. Teddy Kavanagh '23 finished with a season-best of 11:07.4, to take third place in the 3200-meter race. John Mikita '20 won the 55-meter hurdles race in his indoor track debut.
In the relays, both the 4 x 200-meter race (Brown, Will Muscatello '20, Aiello, and Wallace) and 4 x 400-meter (Brown, Muscatello, CJ Arce '21, and Atayi) teams won their respective races.
In the field events, Aaron Milton '21 won the high jump competition and Aiello won the long jump competition.
The Hoyas next compete in the Hoxton Indoor Track Invitational at Episcopal High School this Saturday, February 8 at noon.
