Dr. McKnight, a member of the Class of 1970 and former member of the Board of Trustees, is a Medical Oncology Specialist in Washington, D.C. He graduated with Honors from Howard University College of Medicine in 1978.

Dr. McKnight completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian University Hospital and completed his fellowship in oncology at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C. He has received Washington Hospital Center's highest honor for excellence in teaching, the Joe H. Gaskin M.D. award eight times in his illustrious career. Both the Washingtonian Magazine (1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012) and the Washington Consumer's Checklist of Outstanding Physician Specialists consistently vote him one of the top doctors in Washington, D.C. Dr. McKnight was the 2002 recipient of the Insignis Medal, which is awarded to one who is outstanding or exceptional in service to other people and to the community.

As a certified subspecialist in medical oncology, Dr. McKnight has over 25 years of experience treating a broad range of cancers. He has established a noteworthy reputation in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and lung cancer. While he remains active in his award-winning oncology practice, Dr. McKnight is dedicated to his leadership development in an ever-changing health care environment. Dr. McKnight holds an MBA from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with a focus in Medical Management. In the fall of 2010, he began participation in the prestigious two-year fellowship for Healthcare Leadership in the 21st Century sponsored by the Advisory Board Company of Washington, D.C.
