Over the summer, Sean Keeley ‘24 attended the Texas Boys State in Austin, TX (housed on the campus of UT-Austin). Sean was nominated by an American Legions post to represent them as an attendee. During the week, Sean learned about the structure and operations of the Texas state government. One of the highlights of Boys State is when the attendees participate in elections and vote for a mock government. Sean ran as a candidate for mayor and won his election which offered some extra leadership insights during the week.

Sean said his experience "Texas Boys State is one of the most formative experiences of my life. I was able to build and participate in aspects of government and practice citizenship. When I was elected mayor of my city, I learned that leadership is not just a title, it's a responsibility."
