Savas's Eagle Project was done at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, where he was baptized and is an active member. Savas worked with The Merrifield Garden Center and designed and planted a garden for the Greek Preschool adjacent to their playground. It has basil, echinacea magnus, monarda didyma, liatris spicata, helleboros ivory prince, various ferns, and hosta braesingham.

Savas said "Scouting has given me a great appreciation for service. One of the biggest aspects of scouting is serving your community, which flows very well into the Jesuit motto “men for others."
