Congrats to freshmen Carter Sweeney who was selected to be in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra at Strathmore. Carter began learning violin at age 6 while his family (Navy) was living overseas in Japan. His Japanese teacher was very inspiring and fun. Carter has had different violin teachers in Germany, D.C. and Seattle, where he enjoyed performing all year with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) and at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
The first performance of the Maryland Classic Youth Symphony Orchestra is Sunday December 10 at 7:00 pm at Strathmore Music Center. Feel free to go hear Carter and the other local 8th and 9th graders in this orchestra.
