Argentina Exchange
  • Global

In early June, Francisco Villegas ‘27 and Carleone Eyombo-Bella ‘28 traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷, accompanied by Mrs. Victoria Barrero from the Modern Languages Department. This trip marked the 16th anniversary of the cultural immersion between Georgetown Prep and Colegio del Salvador.

The Hoyas participated in cultural classes with their host brothers, visited iconic sites like Estancia Santa Susana and Teatro Colón, and even learned to dance the tango 💃🕺. This year’s exchange was especially meaningful, as students shared the experience with peers from two other Jesuit schools—BC High (Boston) and Gonzaga.

Congratulations to Francisco and Carleone on an unforgettable journey and for carrying on this truly special Jesuit high school intercambio!

Carleone ‘28 reflected: “There’s nothing I would have changed about this trip. I truly owe all of that to my exceptional host family. This trip is exactly what it sounds like: an immersive, two-week intensive into a culture that is opposite to our own in a multitude of ways. From when you wake up to when you go to bed, you’re outside of your comfort zone and in a place that will change your understanding of civilization by the time you leave. If you allow it, this trip will teach you as much about yourself and your own country as it will about the new one you can embrace with open arms.”
