In May 2015, the Georgetown Preparatory School Board of Trustees approved the school's new Strategic Plan. Work on the planning process began in the fall of 2015 and continued throughout the school year. It has been a labor intensive, but very rewarding experience for the school community. View the Strategic Plan.
I want to thank all those who participated in the planning process: Board of Trustees, faculty, students, staff, current and past parents and Prep alumni. All of these groups were surveyed at the start of the process and were subsequently invited to join discussion groups. At several iterations along the way, individual members of these groups were asked to react to draft goals and proposed initiatives. I am grateful for this level of involvement. It reveals our shared passion for Prep and our commitment to the school’s mission.
The scope of the plan is seven years, so some initiatives will be accomplished sooner than others. Some initiatives are budget neutral while others will have costs associated with them. The latter will need to be considered in the context of fiscal planning processes.
The Strategic Plan is appropriately ambitious. It will require of all members of the Prep community a willingness to work together in the spirit of the magis, the restless desire for excellence grounded in gratitude for all that God has done for Prep since 1789. Based on my experience of the planning process, I have every confidence that we can accomplish the work that lies ahead.
