PREP CHRISTMAS SHOPPING & DEL WILBER BOOK SIGNING FRIDAY DEC. 9: The Prep Store and Hoya Café will have extended hours for your one-stop Christmas shopping this Friday, Dec. 9, from 4:00-7:00pm! Special features will include hourly prize drawings, a visit from Santa Claus, and Del Wilber ’93 will be on hand from 4:00-6:00 to sign copies of his New York Times bestseller "Rawhide Down: The Near Assassination of Ronald Reagan." Del’s book sold out quickly when he was here in September, so this is a great second chance to meet him and get a signed copy! All proceeds from the evening's book sale will benefit the Rich Drozd Scholarship Fund. See you (and your kids with Santa) at the Prep store in the George Center this Friday night!!! Then stick around for Prep’s basketball game against St. John’s starting at 7:30!

LAYING OF THE WREATHS SATURDAY DEC. 10: Alumni are invited to join Prep students, parents, and faculty for the annual Laying of the Wreaths ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery this Saturday Dec. 10. There will be limited alumni seating on buses that will depart from Prep at 7:15am. Alternatively, alumni should meet the Prep contingent at 8:15am sharp at the Women’s Memorial, which is located at the Ceremonial Entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and is directly across Memorial Bridge from the Lincoln Memorial at the end of Memorial Drive. The ceremony begins at 8:30am, so punctuality is key! All alumni and family are welcome and are asked to wear some sort of Georgetown Prep sweatshirt, jacket, or hat to make meeting up easier and for a group photo. For anyone interested in attending or who has further questions, please contact Mrs. Joda Coolidge at 703-819-0483.

CHRISTMAS EVE MASS AT 7:00PM THIS YEAR: In order to accommodate more alumni and their families, Christmas Eve Mass will begin earlier this year. Please join the Prep community in the Chapel of Our Lady at 7:00pm for Christmas Carols. Mass will begin at 7:30. This Mass will replace Midnight Mass, so please plan accordingly. See you and your family for Christmas Eve Mass at Prep at 7:00pm on Dec. 24!

R.I.P. PATRICIA R. MORGAN: 1938-2011: The Prep community was saddened by the death of Mrs. Patricia (Pat) R. Morgan on November 26, 2011 after a brief illness. Mrs. Morgan was a beloved member of the community, serving as development director for 17 years. She retired from her position in July of 2006 for medical reasons, but remained an active and integral part of the community. With her quick wit and big heart, Mrs. Morgan counted many friends among Prep’s alumni. As part of her responsibilities, she directed two capital campaigns, helping to secure funding for the Haas Humanities Building, the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence, and the William L. George, S.J. Center. In 2005, Mrs. Morgan received the Insignis Medal, Prep’s highest honor. Funeral arrangements are pending.
