Father Marco Era Begins
First Day 2010_ENews.jpg

Prep’s school year started with a new president and a new tradition. As promised, Father Marco was outside by 7:30 a.m., greeting students as they arrived for the first day of school on Sept. 1. He promises to do the same every school morning, schedule permitting, a practice he maintained during his seven years at Walsh Jesuit in Ohio. Two days later, Father Marco led the Prep community in celebration of the Mass of the Holy Spirit.

Summer of Service

Prep students went south for a summer of service, and kept going south, all the way down to Patagonia. Integral to their formation as Men for Others are Prep’s summer service projects, each one unique but all making a high impact in the targeted communities, and on the boys who perform the work. This year’s trips were to southwestern Virginia; New Orleans; the Dominican Republic; and Argentina.

New and Familiar Faces at Prep

Father David Sauter, S.J., who served as Headmaster from 1973-81, has returned to Prep this year to teach freshmen and sophomore English. Two young alumni have also returned to campus to serve as residential staff: Jake Raff, '05, and Chris Hodgson, ’06.
