Reunion 2009: Photos and Recap |
Reunion 2009 may be over but the memories will last a lifetime. Alumni from near and far traveled back to Prep to celebrate their reunion, some of whom had not been on campus since they graduated. It was a wonderful weekend where old friends were able to catch up with each other and talk about their days at Prep and their time since they left Prep.

Prep Alums Organize 10th Annual Bike to the Beach |

Tommy Schmitz, ’02, Ben Dalley, ’99, and Joey Schmitz, '99, founded Bike to the Beach, a non-profit organization that promotes cycling, a healthy lifestyle, and community service while raising money for Autism Speaks. Their efforts culminate in the annual 100-mile Bike to the Beach Century Ride. At last year’s ride, B2B brought together over 70 riders (25% of whom were Prep alums), to raise over $125,000 for Autism research.
This year, not just Prep alumni but current students are also getting involved. B2B recently hosted a Friday morning assembly at Prep and enlisted the student body to form a B2B Team. They will compete in a fundraising challenge while biking alongside students from Landon, Gonzaga, St. Albans and Bullis.
The ride is set for July 31, 2009, so mark your calendars! Prep students, faculty and alumni are helping to make this year's ride bigger and better! Join B2B in making a difference for millions of Americans whose lives have been touched by autism.

HOYA SPORTS: Alumni Basketball Tournament Recap |
The 2009 Alumni Hoops Tournament was a major success! Six teams grinded it out in a double-elimination format for bragging rights to the Galvin Cup. Three classes from the '80s ('81, '87, '88) turned back father time for one weekend in an effort to reclaim the glory of year's past. In the end, however, youth ruled the day. The class of '94 and the '03/'04 squad rolled through the tournament undefeated and met in a classic full-court championship game at the Hanley Center. The game featured several lead changes and gutsy play. But ultimately, the '94 squad could not stop the sharp-shooting of tournament MVP Matt Duff, '04, and the '03/'04 team took home the inaugural Galvin Cup!
Afterwards, all classes stayed around to eat, drink, watch hoops, and reminisce about the old days at Prep. Let the good times roll. This is only the beginning of what promises to become a classic tradition. Get the word out to your classmates and get ready to lace them up again for next year!
Special thanks to Brian Ridgway, '89, Rob Clark '87, and the GP Alumni Association for their hard work in pulling off a great tournament.
