To apply to Prep,
complete an application online. (The application process can only be completed online. No paper applications are available.) A $50 online application fee ($100 for international students) must accompany the application. This can be mailed to the admissions office separately. In making our decision, the most important factors are:
- Your grades (accepted students are usually B+ and higher)
- Your recommendations (two from teachers, and a third from someone who knows you outside of school) All transfer applications require a letter from your current Dean of Students. This official letter must be sent directly from the Dean of Students to Georgetown Preparatory School Admissions on official letterhead. This letter is to indicate that you are in good standing and that you do not have a history of misconduct at your current school. Your application will be considered incomplete until this documentation is received by the Georgetown Preparatory Admissions Office.
- The results of your Upper Level Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) (accepted students are usually above the 90th % nationally)
- The last step is to return to Prep for an interview. It is the family's responsibility to schedule an interview. These interviews are conducted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays. It is not possible to request a specific interviewer. This is an important part of the application process, and it will help you to become better acquainted with the school. You must have completed an application to receive an interview. The earlier you submit, the better chance you will have of securing your preferred interview time.
If you apply by January 16, 2012, you can expect an answer February 23 at 5 p.m. by logging into your online account. Letters will also be mailed at that date. Applications received after January 16, 2012, are accepted on a space-available basis.
